New apartments in South End set to open spring 2017

454_exterior_11181621South End’s newest apartment building hit a construction milestone Wednesday, with a topping-out ceremony to mark the completion of vertical construction at Solis Southline.

Developer Terwilliger Pappas, a Charlotte-based apartment firm, said the building at South Boulevard and Remount Road is set to open in spring 2017. The building will include 300 apartments, a parking deck with 400 spaces and 5,200 square feet of street-level retail, along with amenities such as a gym with a climbing wall, a pool, a space to work on bicycles and a 10,000 square-foot clubroom.

“We designed Solis Southline for the many young professionals with active lifestyles who want to live in Charlotte’s rapidly growing urban center,” said Tom Barker, east region president for Terwilliger Pappas, in a statement. “This unique setting along the LYNX light-rail line and Rail Trail will give Solis Southline residents easy access to Charlotte’s South End corridor, uptown and the many entertainment, cultural and sports venues that are a part of these areas.”

Brasfield and Gorrie is the general contractor on the project. Terwilliger Pappas has done other apartment projects in Charlotte under the Solis brand, including in Ballantyne, Dilworth and SouthPark and south Charlotte near Providence Road and I-485.

And South End, of course, has been the epicenter of Charlotte’s apartment boom, with thousands of new apartments opening over the past decade. The boom doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon: Developers are still planning thousands more new apartments throughout the corridor, including down South Boulevard at the former Sedgefield Shopping Center, nearby on Dunavant Street and a few blocks away on West Tremont Avenue.
